Fourth-generation launch and an almost entirely new palette — do not carry third-generation codes into 2024. Magnetic Gray Metallic 1G3, Barcelona Red Metallic 3R3, Lunar Rock 6X3 and Electric Lime Metallic 588 are all gone. In come Terra 4Z0, Bronze Oxide 6X1 (the Trailhunter signature color), Underground 1L7, and Supersonic Red 3U5 in Barcelona Red's place. Black-roof two-tone builds carry their own separate codes rather than these: 2MQ for Ice Cap with a black roof, 2ZW for Underground with a black roof, 2ZX for Terra with a black roof.

- Open the driver's door and look at the B-pillar at roughly latch height.
- Find the row labelled C/TR on the printed sticker.
- The three characters before the slash are the paint code.
- The characters after the slash are the interior trim code, not paint.
If the sticker is missing or faded
- Call any Toyota dealer parts desk with your VIN. They can read the code off the build record, usually in under a minute and at no cost.
- Genuine Toyota touch-up part numbers embed the paint code — part 00258-004X0-21 is code 4X0.
