2016 Toyota 4Runner
8 factory colors were offered on the Fifth generation (N280) 4Runner. Your code is on the driver's door jamb sticker on the line marked C/TR — the characters before the slash.
This is the earliest model year currently in our database for the 4Runner, so there is no prior year to compare against.
Verified against 3 independent sources: 2016 Toyota 4Runner official brochure (dealer CDN mirror): https://cdn.dealereprocess.org/cdn/brochures/toyota/2016-4runner.pdf — Color/Trim/Wheels page plus the Color Combination Chart, whose Color Selector column reads Midnight Black Metallic, Nautical Blue Metallic, Barcelona Red Metallic, Quicksand, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Classic Silver Metallic, Blizzard Pearl, Super White; Toyota USA Newsroom, 2016 4Runner: https://pressroom.toyota.com/2016-toyota-4runner-debut/ — 'The TRD Pro Series is available in a new exclusive color for 2016, Quicksand', replacing Inferno; PaintRef Toyota cross-reference, 2016 4Runner: https://www.paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?year=2016&make=Toyota&model=4Runner&rows=100 — corroborates the seven general codes.
Eight colors. Quicksand 4V6 is TRD Pro-only for 2016, replacing the 2015 TRD Pro's Inferno; the brochure's Color Combination Chart shows it available on TRD Pro alone. TRD Pro was offered in Quicksand, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Super White. PaintRef's 2016 4Runner page lists only the seven general colors and misses the TRD Pro exclusive.
Where to find your paint code
Driver's door jamb (B-pillar), on the white or silver build sticker, on the row labelled C/TR.
Driver's door jamb
- Open the driver's door and look at the B-pillar at roughly latch height.
- Find the row labelled C/TR on the printed sticker.
- The three characters before the slash are the paint code.
- The characters after the slash are the interior trim code, not paint.
If the sticker is missing or faded
- Call any Toyota dealer parts desk with your VIN. They can read the code off the build record, usually in under a minute and at no cost.
- Genuine Toyota touch-up part numbers embed the paint code — part 00258-004X0-21 is code 4X0.
Other 4Runner years
Color availability changed year to year. Codes often carried over; names sometimes did not.
