2020 Chevrolet Equinox
11 factory colors were offered on the Third generation, pre-refresh Equinox. Your code is on the driver's door jamb sticker on the line marked C/TR — the characters before the slash.
Changes from 2019:
Verified against 4 independent sources: Chevrolet 2020 Equinox catalogue (official brochure), EXTERIOR COLORS section with trim footnotes: https://cdn.dealereprocess.org/cdn/brochures/chevrolet/2020-equinox.pdf; PaintRef 2020 Chevrolet Equinox cross-reference (RPO-to-WA for all eleven): https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?make=Chevrolet&model=Equinox&year=2020; GM Authority, '2020 Chevrolet Equinox Gets New Cayenne Orange Metallic Color' (GLL = WA-324E): https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/12/2020-chevrolet-equinox-gets-new-cayenne-orange-metallic-color/; GM Authority, '2020 Chevrolet Equinox Gets New Midnight Blue Metallic Color' (GLU = WA-328E): https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/12/2020-chevrolet-equinox-gets-new-midnight-blue-metallic-color/.
Palette cut from fourteen to eleven. Three new colours - Chocolate Metallic (GAV), Cayenne Orange Metallic (GLL) and Midnight Blue Metallic (GLU); Storm Blue, Sandy Ridge, Ivy, Kinetic Blue, Orange Burst and Pepperdust all dropped. Trim restrictions from the catalogue: Satin Steel Metallic (G9K) is a late-availability colour not offered on L, LS or Premier; Iridescent Pearl Tricoat (G1W, extra-cost), Chocolate Metallic (GAV), Pacific Blue Metallic (G6O) and Cajun Red Tintcoat (GPJ, extra-cost) are not available on L or LS; Nightfall Gray Metallic (G7Q), Cayenne Orange Metallic (GLL, extra-cost), Midnight Blue Metallic (GLU) and Mosaic Black Metallic (GB8) are not available on L.
Where to find your paint code
Driver's-door B-pillar Certification label - scan the 2D QR/data-matrix code (all 2018-and-later Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC vehicles) to list every RPO code fitted, paint included.
Driver's door jamb
- Open the driver's door and find the Certification label on the B-pillar or door jamb.
- Scan the square 2D QR/data-matrix code on that label with a phone. It returns the VIN plus the full RPO list.
- In the returned list, the paint RPO is the three-character code starting with G (e.g. GAZ, G6M, GXD).
- If the vehicle predates the QR label, open the glove box and read the 'Service Parts Identification' (SPID) placard instead - it prints the same RPO list as plain text.
- Cross-check against the WA number if you are buying touch-up paint: retailers index by WA, not RPO.
If the sticker is missing or faded
- Service Parts Identification (SPID) placard - glove box on Silverado/Sierra; trunk floor or driver's door panel on cars
- Original window sticker (Monroney), which names the exterior colour in plain language
- Dealer parts department VIN lookup, which returns the build's full RPO list
- GM Vehicle Diagnostics / MyChevrolet app build data for later vehicles
Other Equinox years
Color availability changed year to year. Codes often carried over; names sometimes did not.
